If the action plan for feminism is to try to just convince men to see women as full human beings and care about them so that misogyny can be solved, it will die dead dead dead. I have no faith in that. Societal change against the most extensive and persistent form of oppression on the globe is not going to come by talking to men nicely. They are going to keep acting in their own interests until they are forced to do otherwise. There has to be punishment, legally and socially, there has to be a dent in the paychecks of those who profit off of misogyny, they’re going to have to be made ashamed, uncomfortable and frustrated, and they’re not going to be able to keep living their lives as they were before. Men are not going to fall on their knees one day all of a sudden in realisation of their most grievous faults out of the goodness of their hearts. Women are the ones who have to get the movement going regardless of how much men like it, or how much it inconveniences or endangers us at first. Men will not come to your rescue. Women have to make collective sacrifices now and support each other in the backlash so that the next generations have it easier. It’s a hard fight and EVERYONE will have to pay for it if the goal is to end misogyny once and for all. Caution is one thing but feminists being vehemently against even the idea of disturbing the peace is going to kill it. Is killing it.
